I am an English teacher who has been working in Cambridge curriculum schools since 2016, and for the past four years I have focused on supporting multilingual learners as an EAL teacher. I am passionate about helping students grow in confidence as they develop both their social and academic English. I hold a Cambridge International certification in Teaching and Learning, as well as a Master of Education in Curriculum and Planning from Calvin University, which help me design lessons that are both effective and engaging for students.
I take pride in supporting students in making meaningful progress—many of my EAL students have grown from beginner levels to meeting grade-level expectations within two years. I also enjoy working closely with teachers and families, and have led workshops on EAL strategies and Cambridge English approaches to help create a supportive learning environment for every child. My goal is always to help students feel confident, capable, and ready to succeed in their learning journey
Avinash Poudel
My name is Avinash, though students warmly know me as Mr. Avi. I graduated from Corban University (USA) and have spent the past five years in education as an English teacher and homeroom teacher, working with students across different age groups. During my time here at Sekolah Pelita Harapan, I have grown in creating engaging, student-centered classrooms where collaboration and creativity are at the heart of learning. I bring high energy into everything I do—some might even say I’m an “energizer bunny” when it comes to planning lessons and activities!
I am truly excited to be part of this summer program and look forward to learning and having fun together with the students. I believe the best learning happens when students feel encouraged, challenged, and joyful.
A fun fact about me: I can turn almost any lesson into a game—even grammar practice can become an exciting competition in my class!
